Bungie announced on May 21 2026 that active development of Destiny 2 ends with the next content update. Monument of Triumph releases June 9 2026 as the final live content drop. After that, the game enters maintenance mode. Servers stay online and the game stays playable, but no new expansions, no new seasons, no new content beyond what ships on June 9. What is in the final update: - A new permanent Pantheon with fresh bosses to challenge - The return of Sparrow Racing League - A refreshed Director and a Portal overhaul - Free for all players, ships as a meaningful content drop relative to the past several months Bundled the same day: Destiny 2 The Collection, packaging all existing content packs as one purchase for new players entering the world for the first time. Bungie did not announce Destiny 3. The studio said it is incubating next games while Destiny 2 lives on in maintenance. Layoffs are part of the transition. What this means for verified tournaments on Weered: the Bungie API stays live as long as servers stay live. PGCR ingestion, fireteam attribution, weapon kill counts, modifier verification, all of it keeps working. Tournaments, challenge ladders, Pantheon races, Sparrow Racing brackets, none of that depends on new content shipping. What changes is the pace: instead of riding the next expansion content wave, we ride the community itself. If you are coming back for the final update, you have a home here. If you have been here, the calendar around June 9 is going to matter.
